How the MCS-150 due date works
The schedule comes from 49 CFR 390.19. Two digits of your USDOT number decide it:
- The last digit sets the month. The update is due by the last day of that month.
- The next-to-last digit sets the year. Odd means you file in odd-numbered years; even means even-numbered years.

Example: USDOT 1234567 ends in 7, so it files in July. Its next-to-last digit, 6, is even, so it files in even years: by July 31, 2026, then July 31, 2028.
What happens if you miss it
A carrier that doesn't complete its biennial update is subject to civil penalties and to deactivation of its USDOT number, according to 49 CFR 390.19. The update is required even if nothing about your company changed, so put the date on your calendar now.
